Development history of
the hyperhistory.net web site
1985 - 1999
These courses were conceptualized in 1985 by Mr.
N. who was seeking a way to deliver quality content independent of geographical
constraints. Having just returned from eight months of independent travel to
several historic sites in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, he wanted to bring
the world home to his students but he did not want to stay home himself. Simply
put, he wanted to teach without being tied to a school desk. (Now he teaches
being tied to a laptop.)
2000 - 2002
After more than a decade of preparation in delivering historical content through
on-line instruction, he was granted a Fulbright exchange that lead him from
Oregon, USA to Bogotá, Colombia. This is where constructing the actual
courses of hyperhistory.net began in 2001-2002 while Mr. N. taught an
ACSI accredited school. He instructed a talented class of 10th
grade students in both World History and Computers. This integration provided
the stimulus, creativity, and diligence to begin developing World History content
as required by their course syllabus.
2003 - 2005
During the current school year, Mr. N. edits and publishes world history essays
sent in by his cyber students. These students are located world wide, e.g.,
Peru, Cambodia, Hungary... even Texas. While most of his students are taught
through The Potter's School and Northstar
Academy, some are independently tutored.
2005 - 2008
Mr. N. resigned from over a decade of teaching in public schools to become a
volunteer teacher at a school for the children of evangelical missionaries.
Although his income from teaching dropped by 80%, as all things work together,
this website grew beyond expectations as he was seeking financial support. After
three years of keeping Hyperhistory.net an advertising free website, he researched
the advertising industry and starting with the 2005-2006 school year, began
placing ads on hyperhistory.net. At the same time he opened a password protected
domain for registered users which contains
multi-media and no advertising.
The hyperhistory.net site continues to grow through the quality submissions donated by Christians who value the promotion of history in Biblical perspective.
