How have evolution theories evolved over time?

Given the expanding body of scientific knowledge and technology, how has evidence for the Big Bang Theory and evolution held up over time?

Summary:
“Before the mountains were created, before you made the earth and the world, you are God, without beginning or end.” For the past 200 years man has been doing his best to try and prove this fact to be false; and for the past 200 years God has been proving his Word to be true, even through science and technology. Perhaps it is mans need to feel in control or his need to be independent, but because man denies what is clearly seen (Rom. 1:18- ), he refuses to accept that there is a higher Deity even when all of the evidence points in that direction. It seems that just when evolutionists think that they have found something that completely settles the questionability of evolution, science goes and proves them wrong again, thus scientists are constantly changing their views of how life actually did come about, if not by a Designer.
Who was Lucy?
One problem with the theory of evolution comes when looking at fossil records.
First of all, there are not near enough fossil evidence to account for all of
the transformations said to have taken place throughout the millions of years
of the evolution of man. One of the most famous archeological findings is “Lucy”
(real name: Australopithecus Afarensis), who was discovered in Hadar, Ethiopia
by Donald Johanson. Lucy was found nearly 40% complete, dated back 3.5 million
years and believed to have walked in an upright position . Although this would
seem to be an incredible find, scientists soon began having problems with their
previous theories due to studying this “missing link”.
Scientists had claimed that she had walked in an upright position2, but upon further observation they noticed that she did not have the knee joints to be able to walk. She walked only on all of her knuckles. Evolutionists justify her inability of being able to walk by saying that only ‘certain species of apes at the time were bipedal’.3 Furthermore, scientists had speculated that a hominid that lived at Lucy’s time would have had a large brain and would have been using tools by that time. However, scientists found that the braincase wasn’t near large enough to hold a brain the size that they had conjectured. In fact, it was only big enough to hold the size of a common chimpanzee’s brain. Problems also arrived when putting together her rib cage. Human rib cages are far more flat than apes, who have a barrel shaped rib cage. When putting together Lucy they found hers to be almost completely like that on an ape. Ribs, however, can be messed with so this wasn’t a problem for scientists, who simply put her ribs together so that they would appear more flat- human like.
Some scientists say that Lucy is nothing more than a knuckle walking ape, while others say that she is the missing link that explains evolution- only after previous assumptions are thrown out the window of course.
As old as the hills?
In pre-Darwin evolution the world was thought to have been 75,000 years old
and humans were said to have been around for 40,000 years.4 However,
scientists soon saw that this was not a plausible time span for one species
to have become another species, thus, the earth got older. First in the millions
of years and today the earth is said to be 4.5 billion years old!5
If the Big Bang really did happen and the earth really is billions of years
old then there are major problems that arise when carefully examining the erosion
rate of rock, mountain and the earth in general. The average erosion rate for
mountainous rock is 1000mm/1000 years.6 If the earth has been around
for as long as geologists say then the earth would be completely level by now,
and even continents with the slowest erosion rate of 1mm/1000 that have an average
height of 623 m should have vanished long ago. To counteract this, geologists
claim that mountains and land still exist because uplift is constantly replacing
the mountains and land from below. In other words, the mountains would have
eroded and then been replaced within a 2.5 million year time span. However,
if this were true there would be no sedimentary layers found because the sediment
would have been replaced so many times. There have also been findings of complete
trees penetrating two or more entirely different adjacent strata.7
There are only two ways to explain this, either the trees preserved in sedimentary
rock grew through the rock or the trees stood straight up for millions of years
while the sediment grew around it.
Are rocks millions or thousands of years old?
Three years after Mt. St. Helens blew new rock on May, 1980, samples were dated
at 2.8 million years old by a renowned lab using typical radio-isotope dating
methods. Newly formed igneous rock from Hawaii has also been dated in the millions
of years.
Coal was thought to have been formed by vegetation compressed over millions of years. Although carbon based, carbon dating has not been used to date coal because it was assumed the rocks were older than any trace amounts given the decay rate of carbon-14. However, those assumptions have shattered as creation science has shown otherwise.
Diamonds, which are said to take millions of years to form deep in the earth, still contain carbon C-14. This recent discovery shakes core assumptions held by secular geophysicists. Yet, since the evolutionary house of cards is built on the necessity of enormous time spans, secular scientists cling to interpretive data that supports their believe system.
Granite contains helium that can escape nearly as quickly as it does from a helium balloon left over night. As a Noble gas, Helium is such a slippery molecule that it can slip through even the hardest diamond. Thus, the old assumptions precluded testing granite for the presence of helium. However, when trace amounts were recently tested by Cal Tech results confirmed the predictions of creation scientists that the granite was only about 6000 years old.
Where are the silts produced by the Grand Canyon?
Silts are missing from the mouth of the Colorado River and the Baja Gulf as
would be predicted from gradual runoff. However, catastrophic runoff would force
the deposits to be located near San Diego. Indeed, a US geologic survey team
discovered about 1800 feet of sediment as they drilled near San Diego searching
for geothermal potential. This is the predicted location and amounts of the
missing sediments which would have been carved out of the Grand Canyon by a
raging torrent of massive water churning boulders the size of busses.
Mt. Saint Helens also gives evidence that the Grand Canyon was formed rapidly by a deluge of water over days rather than by a small river over millions of years. Flows from Mt. Saint Helens ripped a canyon through the sedimentary ash and mud deposits to create a canyon nearly one fortieth the size of the Grand Canyon.
How else can water be so destructive?
The 2005 tsunami was caused by a rapid six foot uplift on the ocean
floor. This resulted in coastal regions being hit by a wave that was about 60
feet high. When the “fountains of the deep” were ripped open during
Noah’s flood, the destructive force may have produce tsunamis of continent
sweeping proportions. Plate tectonic theory proposes a singular continent of
Pangaea that was gradually split apart. Imagine the destructive reforming of
the earth’s surface if these floating plates slid rapidly across earth’s
magma.
Why is this important?
Romans 6:23 states that “the wages of sin is death”. If evolution
produced death over millions of years then death occurred before the fall of
Adam which demands a radical reinterpretation of the literal Genesis story of
a six day creation. Either Genesis is myth, a lie that was believed by the author,
or a narrative of historic truth.
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”8 Evolutionists claim that technology is bringing them closer to making major breakthroughs in the scientific world, when in reality research and findings today are bringing them even further away in their quest to prove evolution than before! They have to “help” science by sculpting fossils like Lucy to fit into their presumptions. But the Word of God is living and inerrant. It makes sense because the truth is evident and self-sufficient. When looked at closely its plain to see that “Creation science” is the only way that anything surrounding us makes sense- because it’s the way it happened.
